Job Description

The Occupational Health & Safety Consultant will provide expert guidance and operational support on all matters related to workplace health, safety, and environmental compliance.

Working closely with the Country HR Representative and relevant local and global stakeholders, the consultant will support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of OHS policies, procedures, governance processes, and workplace practices.

The ideal candidate should possess practical OHS experience within manufacturing, supply chain, industrial, or similarly complex operational environments, along with strong stakeholder-management, training, auditing, and reporting capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

OHS Strategy & Policy Implementation

  • Support the implementation of the country's OHS strategy in alignment with global policies and local regulatory requirements
  • Conduct gap analyses and recommend improvements based on legal requirements and industry best practices
  • Ensure OHS policies, procedures, and guidelines are effectively implemented, maintained, communicated, and understood across the organization
  • Support the continuous improvement of workplace health, safety, and environmental practices

Risk Assessment & Incident Management

  • Conduct and support workplace risk assessments, hazard-identification activities, and job-safety analyses across relevant sites
  • Guide the development and follow-up of corrective and preventive action plans addressing identified risks and incidents
  • Support workplace incident and accident investigations, including root-cause analysis
  • Monitor the implementation and timely closure of agreed corrective actions
  • Provide practical recommendations to reduce workplace risks and prevent recurring incidents

Compliance & OHS Governance

  • Support the monitoring of compliance with applicable occupational health, safety, environmental, and labour regulations
  • Advise stakeholders on international OHS standards, corporate safety guidelines, site requirements, and relevant industry practices
  • Act as a focal point for OHS governance meetings, including quarterly and monthly stakeholder meetings
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders before meetings to ensure readiness and the availability of required information
  • Prepare and circulate meeting minutes, track action points, and follow up to ensure timely closure
  • Maintain appropriate OHS documentation and governance records

Training & Safety Awareness

  • Co-develop and deliver OHS training programmes, awareness sessions, safety briefings, and emergency drills
  • Support relevant teams in understanding their OHS responsibilities and required workplace practices
  • Promote employee engagement in workplace safety and well-being initiatives
  • Contribute to building and sustaining a proactive, safety-first culture

Audits, Inspections & Performance Reporting

  • Conduct workplace audits, inspections, and safety tours in collaboration with project, service, facilities, and operational teams
  • Support the development and maintenance of OHS performance indicators, dashboards, and reporting tools
  • Prepare periodic OHS reports, findings, insights, and recommendations for local and global stakeholders
  • Monitor safety-performance trends and recommend appropriate improvement initiatives
  • Support internal and external OHS reviews when required

Stakeholder Collaboration & Special Projects

  • Work closely with HR, facilities management, project teams, service teams, operational functions, and other key stakeholders
  • Provide advisory and technical support on OHS-related matters across the organization
  • Support OHS and employee well-being projects assigned by the relevant governance committee or Country HR Representative
  • Coordinate with external service providers and contractors on workplace safety requirements when applicable
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or another relevant discipline
  • 3–5 years of relevant OHS, EHS, or workplace-safety experience
  • Previous experience within manufacturing, industrial, engineering, supply chain, or operational environments is highly preferred
  • Practical experience conducting risk assessments, workplace inspections, audits, and incident investigations
  • Good knowledge of local health and safety regulations and internationally recognized OHS practices
  • Professional certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, or an equivalent qualification is an advantage
  • Experience delivering safety training, awareness sessions, and emergency drills
  • Strong report-writing, documentation, and presentation capabilities
  • Good command of English and Arabic

Working Arrangement
  • Work closely with the Country HR Representative as an advisory and operational support resource for OHS-related matters
  • Collaborate regularly with local teams, global OHS stakeholders, contractors, and external service providers
  • Travel to customer and operational sites for inspections, audits, meetings, and safety activities as required
