cape group (cape) is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee providing services to people
with a disability and is a Registered NDIS Provider.

Nadrasca joined with Brite in April 2025 to form cape group, a newly formed brand resulting from the merger of the two NDIS registered providers with a combined 120 years in operation across the eastern and northern suburbs.

Together, we provide a range of services for people with disability, including home and living
supports, social and community participation activities, youth employment assistance, supported employment, and NDIS support coordination.

The Position

The Health and Safety Advisor will lead the development of a positive safety and wellbeing culture
that is owned by everyone, that prioritises open and honest communication, anticipates unsafe actions and corrects them before they happen to ultimately improve wellbeing, safety, performance, and the support provided.

The Health and Safety Advisor is a functional role, responsible for a wide range of workplace health
and safety functions including the co-ordination, review, and facilitation of safety compliance activities, to eliminate or reduce psychosocial risks so far as reasonably practicable, OHS Committee support, support for the completion of workplace risk assessments and the development, implementation of a comprehensive safety and wellbeing management plan.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and promote a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture across the organisation, supporting continuous improvement in workplace safety.
• Coordinate health and safety compliance activities, including risk assessments, audits, incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Support and facilitate Health & Safety Committees and Representatives through training, reporting, and regular engagement.
• Provide expert advice on WHS legislation, risk management, psychosocial hazards and duty of care obligations.
• Develop, implement and review safety, wellbeing and risk management policies, procedures and systems.
• Lead the development and delivery of organisation‑wide Safety and Wellbeing Plans, including psychosocial wellbeing initiatives.
• Analyse WHS data, incidents, near misses and trends, and prepare reports and dashboards for senior leaders, Board subcommittees and regulators.
• Support emergency preparedness, disaster response planning and contractor WHS compliance.
• Deliver and support WHS induction and training programs for employees and managers.
• Contribute to organisational risk management, quality certification audits and continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Formal qualifications in Work Health and Safety
• A minimum 3 years demonstrated experience in a WHS role, preferably in the
  community/disability sector.
• Desirable – Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
• Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety legislation.
• Proven capability to provide expert advice and support to employees and leaders in
  meeting OHS legislative and regulatory requirements.
• Current Level 2 First Aid Certificate or willing to obtain.
• Professional association membership that requires the attainment of and continuing
  development of certain knowledge, skills, and experience for membership.
  (Desirable)
• Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to travel to provide onsite support and hold a current full Victorian Driver’s
  Licence.

• Excellent analytical and thinking skills complemented by an ability to prepare and
  deliver high level documentation and presentations.
• Comprehensive knowledge of incident investigation analysis and evaluation
• Ability to provide advice on Health & Safety matters.
• The ability to drive a positive safety culture.
• Highly developed organisational skills, the capacity to successfully manage competing
  priorities and meet deadlines.
• Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisation.
• Ability to prioritise and plan own workload.
• Excellent time management skills to complete tasks.
• Ability to exercise sensitivity and maintain strict confidentiality, when required.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with external stakeholders.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal direction and supervision, with a proven ability
  to work autonomously and within a team.
• Ability to be flexible and work using own initiative.
