Occupational Health Advisor
Help Shape Healthier Workplaces Across The North West
Tetra Tech is seeking an experienced Occupational Health Advisor to deliver high-quality, proactive occupational health services for clients across the North West
Purpose and Scope of the Role
This permanent, site-based role will see you provide class-leading occupational health support, including case management, health surveillance, health screening and health promotion. You will work closely with client organisations, employees, managers and the wider clinical team to support safe, healthy and productive workplaces.
As part of a multidisciplinary occupational health team of nurses, doctors, technicians and advisors, you will deliver consultations covering fitness for work, absence management and employee assistance programmes. The team focuses on quality over volume, with case management assessments limited to six per day to support manageable workloads, strong service standards and long-term colleague wellbeing.
Your Impact in this Position
From the outset, you will help clients manage workplace health risks, support employees with practical and evidence-based advice, and ensure occupational health activities are delivered in line with relevant legislation.
Over time, you will strengthen client relationships, contribute to health promotion and preventative workplace health strategies, and support continuous improvement across service delivery. You will be part of a collaborative environment built on trust, respect and shared success, with ongoing support for professional development and maintaining NMC registration.
Core Capabilities
Occupational Health Case Management
• Deliver clear, professional and timely advice on fitness for work, absence management, workplace adjustments and employee support, balancing employee wellbeing with client operational needs.
Health Surveillance and Screening
• Apply experience in occupational health screening procedures, including audiometry, spirometry and skin management, to help prevent adverse health effects from workplace activities.
Client and Stakeholder Communication
• Build effective relationships with employees, managers and client representatives, providing empathetic, practical and commercially aware guidance within professional boundaries.
Professional Judgement and Compliance
• Coordinate defined occupational health activities in line with legislation, clinical standards, confidentiality requirements and relevant policies, escalating concerns where appropriate.
Organisation and Self-Management
• Manage appointments, records, follow-up actions and competing priorities effectively, maintaining high standards of accuracy, responsiveness and professional conduct.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
You will be a Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration and a post-registration qualification in Occupational Health at certificate, diploma or degree level. You should have experience across occupational health service delivery, including case management, health surveillance, screening and health promotion.
Strong organisational skills, self-motivation, confident IT capability including Microsoft Office, and the ability to work collaboratively while leading by example are essential. A current UK driving licence is required.
Work Pattern and Location
This is a permanent, site-based role supporting clients across the North West. Regular travel between client locations will be required. Working arrangements will reflect client and service needs, with flexibility discussed where appropriate. #LI-SY1 #OccupationalHealth
