Under the direction of the Occupational Therapist, a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant provides habilitation or rehabilitation occupational therapy services to patients.
Job Duties
· Performs patient care and completes documentation in a timely manner and within insurance guidelines
· Demonstrates critical thinking skills and reasoning process in carrying out the plan of care
· Assists and instructs patients in pushing wheelchair, supporting or lifting, positioning in and out of bed and other activities of daily living
· Assists in specialized motor or self-help activities, constructs supportive or assistive devices
· Observes patient for signs of distress and adjusts activities accordingly
· Prepares clinical notes and progress reports
· Insures patient charges and productivity report are performed accurately and in a timely manner
· Instructs patient, family and other team members in proper use of assistive equipment, prosthetic devices and adaptation devices
Qualifications
· Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
· Must have current valid license as an Occupational Therapy Assistant by the state(s) of practice
Additional Skills/Abilities
· Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Must have basic computer skills
· Must have strong interpersonal skills
· Must have knowledge of the regulatory requirements at the state, federal, and local level
