Overtime Status: Over 8 hours in one day or 80 hours in 2 weeksThe Obstetrics Coordinator creates/edits/manages OB Nursery on-call schedule, defines, captures, analyzes, transforms, transmits and reports patient-specific data and information related to department and patient care processes and outcomes. Performs general secretarial, receptionist and clerical tasks. Understands and coordinates smooth patient flow processes with hospital and physicians relative to all patient care and access areas. Relationship building and exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities include Demonstrating the professionalism necessary to function in health care environment. Provide assistance, guidance, and direction to visitors, patients, and staff. Coordinates services with other departments (i.e. Rad, Lab, etc.) to maintain efficiency. Ensures privacy and security of health information. Maintain and utilize consistently appropriate, professional, and effective communication skills. The OB coordinator is man pint of contact for scheduling NST's, induction requests, changes and cancellations, inpatient OB cases, and all general inquiries related to BO outpatient/inpatient. Possess the ability to function in a fast-paced office type environment with constant interruptions and exchanges. Exercises judgement in prioritizing calls and directing them to the appropriate personnel in a producent and efficient manner. Is responsible for assessing self-learning needs and those of the department. Identifies educational needs for the department and for office staff and participates in the training and education of those staff members. Responsible for training and continued education of relief HUC's in OB. Utilizes and maintains supplies and equipment in a cost- effective safe manner. Ensures prompt and accurate charge capture for OB and newborns utilizing and ensures the use of all available system and software applications to achieve maximum efficiency and accuracy. Documents and maintain data. Patient charts are complete, accurate, and prepared for the next day's schedule, including chart prep for NST, inductions, c-sections, and anesthesia consults. Organizes and maintains record retention for department. Coordinates and completes QA projects, department logs, and statistics. Defines, captures, analyzes, transforms, transmits, and reports patient-specific data and information related to department processes, patient care processes and outcomes. Perform clerical and system functions as assigned. Current on policy and procedures requirements.
Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position.
Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions.
