The Obstetric Triage and Outpatient Registered Nurse provide safe, timely, and patient-centered nursing care for pregnant and postpartum patients presenting for obstetric triage, outpatient evaluation, and scheduled outpatient procedures. The RN performs focused maternal and fetal assessment, prioritizes care based on clinical urgency, carries out provider orders, coordinates disposition, and ensures complete documentation and charge capture.
When triage and outpatient volume does not require the nurse’s full assignment, the RN functions as a clinical resource for Women’s Services. Resource responsibilities may include supporting admissions, initiating IV access, assisting with patient care, providing meal and rest break coverage, supporting patient flow, and assuming charge responsibilities when assigned.
Minimum Requirements: Associate's Degree, and a minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required. Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
