To support Service Obsolescence Management activities in Central and Regions (Central role)

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Key accountabilities:
Are detailed in ENG-WMS-022 and can vary from one project to another, depending on the contractual Obsolescence Management

- Facilitate and support the development of obsolescence management plan with Product Platforms, Projects and Fleet Centres of Excellence

- Request & validate product structures and Bills of Material for obsolescence monitoring from Product Units (Design Authority), Suppliers and other sources such as Illustrated Parts Catalogue, and load in TOMSYS

- Determine obsolescence monitoring strategies for products and projects
- Review and validate obsolescence management plans
- Review incoming obsolescence alerts from external sources, load in TOMSYS and identify necessary actions
- Prepare periodic project obsolescence reports including Performance Indicators
- Facilitate development of obsolescence solutions
- With Sourcing and Supply Chain, develop obsolescence management capability in Suppliers through use of Supplier Charter Audits and Obsolescence Management Plans
- Facilitate supplier obsolescence review meetings
Expertise, tool and system development
- Develop tools and systems including TOMSYS and use of SharePoint
- Ensure future Alstom IS development takes account of obsolescence management needs
- Share experience & knowledge of obsolescence management with others
- Participate and promote Obsolescence Management CCN (Core Competence Network)

- Team Size: potentially one or two direct reports
- Budget responsibility: up to 100K€
- Recruitment: up to technician level (for engineer)

MAIN REQUIRED COMPETENCES
Educational Requirements
University degree or equivalent
Experience
Mandatory:
- Knowledge of rail vehicles & sub-systems
- Information Systems including ERP and Product Data Management
- NOTE: Not mandatory for entry level position
Desirable:
- Knowledge of electronic system design and industrialisation, preferably in rail or similar.
- 3 years’ experience in a technical role in rail or similar industry
- Additional language French, German, Italian or Spanish
- Technology watch & obsolescence management.
Competencies & Skills
- English & French language (minimum Level 2 for 2nd language)
- Design & industrialisation of electronic equipment
- IT: MS-Office (Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Word) essential; MS Access and Visio + SAP desirable
- Collaboration & Teamwork – working with local team and with a remote network
