About your Team:

The Technical Operations (TOPS) Department is seeking a Observability Engineer to maintain and enhance the observability ecosystem (Prometheus, Alertmanager, Alerta, ELK Stack, and various operational tools) and to improve the reliability and automation of production systems. You'll partner with TOPS analysts, SMEs, and development teams to onboard new telemetry, build operational tools, and unify monitoring across our on-premises and cloud infrastructure.

This is Hybrid role (4 days in office /1 days remote)

What will be your responsibilities within IBKR:

  • Develop tools, scripts, and REST API integrations that let operations teams query production systems and automate routine work
  • Aggregate and analyze metrics and logs across sources using the ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) and set up actionable alerts where necessary
  • Maintain and optimize Prometheus, Alertmanager, and monitoring tools including alert rules, routing, and integrations
  • Coordinate with development and application teams to onboard new systems, metrics, and logs, and provide documentation and guidance on monitoring best practices
  • Contribute to incident response and post-incident reviews, driving reliability improvements to reduce recurring issues

What required skill’s you need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2+ years in SRE, DevOps, or technical operations roles supporting high-availability production environments
  • Proficiency in Python (scripting, automation) and in PromQL and KQL
  • REST API development/integration experience and a track record of building secure, modern operational tools
  • Hands-on experience with Linux and the ELK stack
  • Experience with Prometheus/Alertmanager or comparable monitoring/logging tools

Preferred Skills

  • Working knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, and streaming platforms such as Kafka
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code
