Position Title: OBGYN Certified Medical Assistant

Division: AA

Location:Okinawa, Japan

Advancia Aeronautics is committed to placing people first as we accelerate healthcare delivery and provide superior health readiness for military and federal communities across the globe.We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for OB-GYN for a long-term contract providing personal medical services to support the Department of Defense (DoD) at U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa, its Associated Branch Health Clinics, and the U.S. Naval Dental Center Okinawa (3rd Dental Battalion) in Okinawa, Japan.

As a part of the Advancia Aeronautics Team, healthcare workers (HCW) will be supporting the Naval Logistics Command with medical services for active-duty military personnel, their dependents, eligible DoD civilian employees, and other eligible beneficiaries designated by the Government.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

·Prepare exam rooms prior to patient's arrival.

·Obtain patient's medical record following appropriate procedures.

·Check patient's vital signs, to include temperature, respiration, pulse, weight and blood pressure. Obtain fetal heart rate and fundal height.

·Obtain and document patient's current medical history, drug history, chief complaints, allergies and vital signs on the correct Standard Form before patient is in the exam room.

·Assist the provider as needed during exams and procedures.

·Perform diagnostic procedures when ordered, to include EKGs, urine dip sticks, phlebotomy, etc.

·Transport patients to other clinical areas as needed.

·Check each chart for the provider's signature, stamp, and each patient's diagnosis prior to returning the chart to Health Records.

·After a physician has verified the medicine and dosage, the HCW shall administer medication to patients.

·Obtain lab, x-ray, and ultrasound results.

·Maintain exam room stock levels and perform routine maintenance of exam rooms, to include dusting, cleaning wash basins, etc.

·Complete lab and x-ray requisitions in accordance with clinic policies.

·Enter demographic data into the computer upon patient check-in; enter diagnosis and departing time when patient is released; assist with booking of appointments in the electronic health record.

·Answer telephone and transcribe accurate messages.

·Ensure that any broken or unsafe equipment is removed from the clinic in a timely manner and notify appropriate personnel.

·Assist with patient flow and give direct patient care as directed by Government Supervisor.

·Operate the following medical equipment, as directed by Government Supervisor, such as Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor, Handheld Nebulizer, EKG Machine (12 lead), Electronic Thermometer, IV infusion pump (Set-up only), Tympanometer, Ultrasound Machine, Doppler.

Education & Experience Requirements

·Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.

·Be a graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), OR the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) of the American Medical Technologists, OR a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces, OR other formal program as specified in the position specific task order.

·Possess either: Current certification as a medical assistant by the American Association of Medical Assistants OR registration by the American Medical Technologists

·Provide two letters of recommendation written within the last two years attesting to clinical skills. A minimum of one of the letters must be from a supervisor. The other letter must be from either a clinic or hospital administrator, or a practicing physician. Reference letters shall attest to the quality and quantity of experience. The letters may also address patient rapport and the communication skills between practitioner and patient and among peers. Recommendation letters must include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing reference.

·Possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands

·Shall provide services Sunday through Saturday between the hours of 0600 and 1800 and shall be assigned an 8-to-12-hour shift (to include an uncompensated .5 to 1 hour meal break depending on shift length). In no instance will the HCW be required to provide service in excess of 80 hours per 2-week period. The specific schedule for each HCW for each 2-week period will be scheduled 1 month in advance by the supervisor. HCW’s service may be required to work on federally observed holidays. The HCW shall be compensated for the number of hours normally scheduled to work on the day on which the holiday is observed.

·Work is primarily performed indoors at a Military Treatment Facility; employee shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time, have the physical ability to perform assigned tasks, able to lift twenty (20) pounds.

·Must be a United States citizen, successfully pass an extensive government background investigation, and receive government client approval.
