Position Overview:
The Nutritionist is responsible for providing high quality nutrition education, alongside Registered Dietitians, to Harris County residents. The Nutritionist will collaborate amongst the team effectively in order to continually improve programs geared toward chronic disease prevention, nutrition, and physical activity. The position responsibilities also include building and maintaining relationships with community partners.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Delivers engaging, evidence-based nutrition education to groups of children, adolescents, and adults within Harris County. Including cooking and physical activity demonstrations.
- Assists in the development and implementation of nutrition and physical activity curriculum, trainings, and presentations to meet the needs of the target population.
- Plans and performs outreach activities to increase program’s engagement and participation.
- Attends community events and builds partnerships with local organizations to promote nutrition and physical activity education.
- Keeps abreast of current research, approaches, theories, and practices related to nutrition and physical activity.
- Collect and analyze program data to provide monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on progress and outcomes.
- Other tasks as assigned.

Examples of duties
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in nutrition or related field.
Licensure/Certification:
- Valid Texas Driver's License

Qualifications
Experience:
- At least one (1) year of experience in community nutrition or related field
Language:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
Supplemental information
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
- This is a full-time position
- Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
- Must be willing to flex work hours when required, including weekends
- Expected to travel within Harris County jurisdiction
Work Environment:
- This job operates in both a professional office and community environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
Physical Demands:
- This role requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time. This role requires ability to model different kinds of exercises during physical activity classes.
