Job Description

MH: Patient Food Services- ( Full Time, Varied ) -

The Nutritional Services Ambassador is responsible for accurate and timely delivery of patient meals and communicates to unit staff when items are delivered. Collects soiled patient tray carts from nursing units and returning tray carts to dish room. Sets-up and services the patient tray line accurately and timely. Cleans and sanitizes pots, pans, dishes and utensils. Aids in overall cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen area. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum one year customer service experience required.

Knowledge and Skills: Able to safely operate foodservice equipment (trayline warmers, toasters, coffee makers, storage and delivery carts, etc). Exhibits excellent customer service at all times. Involved in giving instructions and training to new employees and dietetic students. Able to stay in the freezer (0 degrees Fahrenheit) or refrigerator (40 degrees Fahrenheit) for up to one hour at a time. Able to see, distinguish colors and accurately taste foods in evaluating quality of food items. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Operate and troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
