Job Description

General Summary

Supervises the daily activities of personnel engaged in the preparation and processing of computerized patient menus and related reports.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Examines diet records received and records information in diet office records.
  • Prepares individual diet slips for meal trays and tallies portions and kinds of food for each type of diet; processes new diets and changes.
  • Compiles dietetic information for use by kitchen personnel in food preparation.
  • Coordinates activities related to patient meal selections and meal service with the production and service sides of the department.
  • Alerts supervisor and I.S. diet office software representative of issues and concerns with the diet office software.
  • Assists supervisor with diet office software maintenance.
  • Responsible for employee recruitment, application and interviewing. Coordinates employee hiring with the Clinical Nutrition Manager. Trains and orients staff.
  • Prepares work schedules, assigns personnel, evaluates work performance and implements personnel actions.
  • Maintains a thorough and expert knowledge of the diet office software including meal selection entry, data processing and patient care documentation
  • Maintains appropriate records, report, and files as required.

  • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment and safety standards.
  • Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation. Coordinates operation of the diet office to ensure standards of quality service and efficiency of work are met.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • None Required
  • High School Diploma or GED Preferred

Work Experience:
