Nutrition Services Aide

The Nutrition Services Aide provides direct clinical nutrition care and food service for residents.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Prepares patient trays based on tray cards and/or patient requests on menu.
2. Ensures that the patient’s menu is filled out daily, and if patient cannot fill out menu, be willing to assist patient with menu choices.
3. Stock tray line/ workstation, coolers and freezers to be ready to start line on time daily.
4. Delivers patient meals to rooms and picks up patient trays when meal is completed, and/or patient has had the allowed time to finish their meal (2 hours).
5. Cleans, sanitizes and organizes the family kitchen (Main dining room), Patio (breakfast porch) and other assigned areas multiple times (3) daily.
6. Practices HACCP, infection control and sanitation protocols to promote safe and sanitary food preparation.
7. Scrapes food from soiled dishes and silverware, loads into dishwasher racks and washes in a timely manner using proper sanitation techniques. Unloads clean dishes and puts them away in preparation for next meal.
8. Monitors dishwasher chemical supplies and replaces when needed.
9. Sweeps and mops the kitchen after meals and takes the trash and boxes out to the dumpster when needed (shared job).
10. Monitors food supplies, paper goods and condiments and informs the Supervisor when items are in short supply.
11. Checks and restocks patient nutrition room daily.
12. Helps plate/bowl salads and desserts daily.
13. Checks and restocks the kitchens in the Admin East and Grief and Revenue buildings on assigned days, making sure ALL assignments are completed and signed daily along with other assigned tasks.
14. Able to work a 12-hour shift when scheduled.
15. Other duties may be assigned.
CONTINUING EDUCATION
The facility requires this position to complete 4 hours of continuing education requirements per year covering topics that will contribute to improvements in carrying out the above responsibilities. The education must be distributed among clinical nutrition, food service operations (including sanitation), and hospice care.
Requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Prefer minimum of 2 years food service experience providing direct clinical nutrition care and food preparation. Also prefer food service experience in a hospice, hospital, or LTC.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
If required to drive, current driver's license and automobile insurance as required by Tennessee state law.
