JOB TITLE: Nutrition Content Writer

DURATION: 3 months (with possibility of extension)
Malnutrition remains one of the world’s greatest public health challenges. An estimated 43 million children suffer from acute malnutrition and 150 million are affected by stunting, while overweight and obesity are increasing across all regions. Maternal and child undernutrition continues to contribute significantly to child mortality and poor development outcomes.
Nutrition is a cross-cutting priority for WFP. Through its programmes, partnerships and systems, WFP works to prevent and manage malnutrition, improve diets, and support better nutrition outcomes for vulnerable populations.
The purpose of the assignment is to support WFP Nutrition in delivering high-quality written products, including speeches, talking points, briefing notes, reports, web and communications content. The role will support the drafting, editing and updating of materials to the highest standards while contributing to the work of the Nutrition Strategic Engagement Team. It requires close collaboration with internal teams and active engagement with external partners to ensure content clearly communicates nutrition priorities, partnerships and collective efforts to improve nutrition outcomes.
Working closely with the various teams in the Nutrition team and broader Service, and under the direct supervision of the Senior Nutrition Partnerships Officer, the consultant will be:
Advanced University degree in English, English Literature, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.
At least 6 years of relevant professional experience with developing, writing and producing speeches for senior leadership, editorial reports, policy documents, copy and corporate communications products on the topic of nutrition and food security to engage various audiences, with a special focus on donors and partners.
Superb writing and editing skills, including a strong understanding of storytelling as well as a strong background in editorial work
Close attention to details
Ability to manage time, prioritize (according to organizational priorities)
Ability to work collaboratively across teams and engage effectively with external partners
Languages: Fluency in English required; Knowledge of a second UN language would be an asset.
