The Nutrition Care Representative (NCR) is a “point person” for food service issues affecting patients, other nutrition servicesstaffand nursing service staff. The NCRis responsible forassistingpatients with menu selection and ensuring that patients receive meals and nourishmentsin accordance withdiet prescriptions and individual preferences.
Duties include
Screening patients for nutritional risk
Taking patient food orders over the phone and entering them intoour computer system
Updating patientinformationinto our ordering systemasrequired
Correcting menu choices under supervision and alerting the supervisor and clinical nutrition staff to any patient issues.
Visiting patient rooms toassistwith ordering meals.
Other duties may include serving patient trays andnourishments
EDUCATION:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred, minimum 18 years of age.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of one year experience ina patient care environment College course work in clinical nutrition or nutrition therapy may be substituted for work experience.
Knowledge/Special Skills:Ability to read, speak, writeand understand English. Mustpossessexcellent customer service skills and be able to follow basic oral and written instructions. Meets the physical demands of the job. Employees must have cash handling and money counting skills. Must be dependable – no excessive absenteeism/tardiness - per department policy. Understands and follows safety and sanitation procedures.
