This position is accountable for oversight of patient care delivery whenever the Nursing Directors are not in the hospital. This RN makes rounds to the nursing units, collaborates with staff to solve clinical and staffing issues, addresses and documents practice variations and staff non-compliance to HR policies. Nursing metrics are assessed and staff coached/mentored to improve outcomes when deficits are identified. This RN also serves as a patient advocate, communicates with support departments as appropriate to resolve issues. Following the chain of command, communicates appropriate issues to AOC, Nursing Leadership, and Ancillary Departments.
Education
Bachelors Nursing Required or BSN completed within 5 years of hire.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
Experience
5 Years Acute care, critical care, ED nursing experience preferred; with
2 Years Demonstrated in leadership responsibilities preferred.
Certification & Licensures
RN Nursing License required *
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved required *
* New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
* Based on primary state of residency and in accordance with current Virginia Board of Nursing Regulations, must be licensed or eligible to practice pending licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia with either a: Multi-state license, under the Nurse Licensure Compact OR Single-state license, valid in Virginia only. ** New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
Qualifications
Knowledgeable in the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological stages of human growth and development. Competent to provide assessment, care and treatment appropriate to the age group of patients served. Acts as notary public by notarizing wills, power of attorney or witness of documents as needed.
