Compensation:

New hires for this position typically start between$101 120 and $134 827hourlyannually, depending on factors such as work location, experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, internal equity,and market conditions While the full pay range is provided to support pay transparency, individual compensation will vary within the range based on these factors.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for providing quality health care services to all residents including assessing somatic conditions, delivering medications according to procedure and creating a favorable group climate for the effective treatment of each resident in treatment. The Nursing Supervisor, in collaboration with the Director of Nursing, is responsible for suggesting and recommending changes in program, policy and procedure. The role is also responsible for providing high quality services under the least restrictive conditions feasible. The Nursing supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the nurse staff (and health coordinators – depending on location). This position supports the Behavioral Health Division of Pioneer Human Services by performing administrative and supervisory tasks to support the provision of quality and cost effective medical/behavioral health services

PRIMARY/ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Resident Health & Safety

  • Interprets and explains program policy to each client as needed.
  • Integrates knowledge by thinking through and planning the most professional, therapeutic reaction or intervention in any given client care situation.
  • Aids in the client's educational process--academic and social, including conducting health education classes and teaching individual client’s health related issues as, self-administration of medications, prevention of infectious diseases, nutrition, and nicotine.
  • Assists clients in meeting health and safety needs in accordance with each individual's stage of recovery and program policies including the following:
  • Assesses and reports client concerns regarding physical and psychiatric needs
  • Assists residents with self-administration of medications.
  • Assists with resident behavior management.
  • Ensures that physical assessments and nursing assessments are completed in a timely fashion and assists intake nurse as needed.

Medication and Physician Assistance

  • Supervises Health Coordinators and monitors and/or assigns daily work schedules (if applicable).
  • Offers advice and assistance to Health and Resource Coordination Manager, Health Coordinators (if applicable) and Nurses as needed.
  • Available for on-call nursing consults and injections.
  • Follows up with MIR’s and assessing root cause analysis.
  • Facilitates communications with refill ordering and medication compliance with Provider.

Supervise Staff

  • Supervises Health Coordinators (if applicable) and Nurses to maintain a balanced staffing schedule in parameters of the working budget.
  • Ensures schedules of health services and nurses to reflect 24/7 scheduling model.
  • Facilitates in the resolution of staff conflicts and discipline in coordination with HR and facility Director.
  • Available for on-call after hours and weekend coverage and nursing concerns.
  • Responsible for personnel matters pertaining to the interviewing, selection, orientation, training, supervision, and evaluation of Nurses and Health Coordinators – based on location.
  • Responsible for writing introductory and annual appraisals.
  • Promotes and models teamwork and collaboration with co-workers.

Administrative Duties

  • Maintains working knowledge of electronic health record system and audits the MAR, assignment sheets, progress notes, and shift reports.
  • Collaboration with providers and medical director as needed for client care and facility concerns
  • Investigates and completes follow-up on Incident Reports, Medication Compliance Forms, and Medication Error Forms in collaboration with Director of Nursing and Unit Director.
  • Reports all staff incidents and concerns to the appropriate supervisor/Director and/or Human Resources.
  • Maintains an even flow of information for interdepartmental continuity of care.
  • Coordinates with Pharmacy to ensure medications are received in a timely manner and problem solve concerns/issues that arise in regards to client medications and/or house stock medications
  • Creates and promotes a professional atmosphere within the facility.
  • Ensures that proper hand washing, hygiene, and infection control techniques are exercised.
  • Assists in the development and training of policies and procedures in collaboration that relates to the health care team

Performs other duties as required and with collaboration with the facility Director, Medical Director and/or Director of Nursing

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED

  • Registered Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing and licensed to administer medication.
  • Must have an active in good standing Registered Nurse license in the State of Washington.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ working experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum of 1 year of previous supervisor experience in a healthcare environment.

PREFERRED/DESIRABLE

  • Experience working in Mental health, chemical dependency, rehabilitation.
  • Experience with electronic charting.
  • Knowledge of local resources and services for individuals who are homeless or low-income and those experiences chronic behavioral health challenges or having histories of involvement in legal system(s).
  • At least 1 of year experience in a residential setting dealing with chemical dependent or clients with mental health concerns
  • Qualifications to meet RN MHP requirements
    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
    • Registered Nurse in Washington and have a current Washington State RN license in good standing.
    • Two years’ experience directly treating persons who have a mental illness or who are emotionally disturbed, such experience gained under the supervision of a Mental Health Professional per WAC 246-341-0515.
