This position is responsible for clinical staff effectiveness and development. Must maintain regulatory compliance within the clinic as well as policy and procedures of University Clinical Health. Will oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of nursing activities and assists with patients and physicians.

Key Results Areas (KRAs):

1. Clinical Operations Management

· Ensure smooth functioning of surgical clinic services.

· Supervise pre-operative and post-operative patient care.

· Monitor adherence to surgical protocols and clinical guidelines.

· Ensure proper patient triage, and appointment coordination.

2. Quality & Patient Safety

· Ensure compliance with infection control practices.

· Monitor surgical site infection (SSI) prevention measures.

· Conduct regular audits (documentation, medication safety, sterile practices).

· Implement corrective actions for quality gaps.

· Ensure safe medication administration practices.

3. Staff Supervision & Development

· Supervise and guide nursing staff and support staff.

· Prepare duty rosters and manage staffing levels.

· Conduct performance evaluations.

· Identify training needs and coordinate skill development programs.

· Mentor junior nurses.

4. Patient Experience & Communication

· Ensure high standards of patient care and satisfaction.

· Address patient complaints and resolve issues promptly.

· Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures and post-op care.

· Maintain effective communication with surgeons and multidisciplinary teams.

5. Documentation & Compliance

· Ensure accurate and timely nursing documentation.

· Maintain surgical checklists and consent documentation.

· Ensure compliance with hospital policies, NABH/JCI standards (if applicable).

· Maintain confidentiality of patient information.

6. Inventory & Resource Management

· Monitor availability of surgical supplies and equipment.

· Ensure proper storage of sterile items.

· Coordinate with stores for timely replenishment.

· Prevent wastage and control costs.

7. Infection Control & Biomedical Waste Management

· Ensure proper sterilization processes.

· Monitor biomedical waste segregation and disposal.

· Conduct periodic infection control rounds.

8. Emergency & Risk Management

· Ensure readiness for surgical emergencies.

· Monitor crash cart availability and expiry checks.

· Participate in incident reporting and root cause analysis.

9. Coordination & Reporting

· Prepare monthly reports (OPD load, procedures, incidents, infection rates).

· Coordinate with OT, CSSD, anesthesia, and other departments.

· Attend management meetings and provide updates.

· Performs other duties as assigned

Core Competencies

· Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and analytic skills required to accomplish assessment calls and coordination/prioritization of interventions

· Knowledge of OSHA regulations

· Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy procedures

· Demonstrates high level of concentration and attention to detail

· Adheres to the policies and procedures of University Clinical Health

· Maintains strict confidentiality of client, company and personnel information

Requirements

Education & Experience:

· RN and State of Tennessee license Required

· 2 - 4 years of management experience in an in-patient or ambulatory setting Preferred

· Knowledge of equipment, sterilize techniques and procedures of treatment Required
