Job Description

The Nursing Simulation and Skills Lab Coordinator/Assistant or Clinical Assistant Professor is responsible for the leadership, administration, and continuous enhancement of the Nursing Simulation and Clinical Skills Laboratories in support of undergraduate and graduate nursing education. This position oversees the planning, organization, scheduling, and implementation of clinical skills and simulation-based learning experiences that align with program outcomes and accreditation standards while ensuring the effective and efficient utilization of laboratory resources.

The Coordinator/Professor manages the daily operations of the simulation and clinical skills laboratories, including equipment preparation and maintenance, inventory control, supply management, scheduling, and laboratory readiness. The position ensures that simulation and skills lab environments remain current, functional, and supportive of high-quality educational experiences through ongoing evaluation of equipment, technology, and instructional resources.

Working collaboratively with nursing faculty, the Coordinator/Professor integrates simulation-based learning throughout the curriculum, develops and implements realistic clinical scenarios, and supports course objectives related to clinical reasoning, patient care, interprofessional collaboration, and clinical skill development. The individual provides direct instruction and supervision to undergraduate and graduate nursing students within simulation and clinical skills settings and serves as a resource for faculty and students to enhance clinical competency, assessment skills, and evidence-based nursing practice.

As a faculty member, the Coordinator/Professor is responsible for teaching in the undergraduate and/or graduate nursing courses, maintaining regular office hours, advising and mentoring students, assessing student learning outcomes, participating in curriculum development, program evaluation, and accreditation activities. The typical teaching load is 6 didactic and/or laboratory and/or simulation credit hours per semester, consistent with divisional workload expectations. Teaching responsibilities may include lecture, laboratory, simulation, clinical, hybrid, and online instruction, with assignments scheduled during day, evening, or weekend hours as needed.

The position also includes active participation in divisional, college, and professional service activities, including committee work, faculty meetings, community engagement, and ongoing professional development. The Coordinator/Professor is expected to maintain clinical expertise and remain current in simulation pedagogy, nursing practice standards, healthcare technologies, and emerging trends in nursing education.

This is a full-time, 12-month, on-campus position requiring regular attendance five (5) days per week, with scheduling flexibility based on student, program, division, and college needs.
