Annual Salary: $71,020.56

Paid Bi-Weekly

The FDVA State Veterans’ Nursing Homes and Domiciliary are designated employment sites for the Nursing Student Loan Forgiveness Program. From funds available, the program may make nursing education loan repayments of up to $4,000 per year, per nurse enrolled in the program, for a maximum of four years. Payment is made at the end of each 12-month enrollment period and made directly to the participant’s lender. Enrollment and payment of awards is based on available funds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed in Florida as a Registered Professional Nurse
  • Current CPR certification
  • Must have excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel)
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays as needed

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in a long-term health care environment (assisted living facility, nursing home, skilled nursing facility)
  • Experience in staff development / staff education
  • Supervisory experience

The incumbent is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a written ‎framework of staff educational plan that promotes the growth and development of its ‎licensed and unlicensed staff.‎

  • Develop, coordinate and monitor facility orientation
  • Lead the nursing assistant training ‎program; and continuing education program, including preparation of comprehensive ‎curriculum, pre-testing and post-testing materials, scheduling, and recordkeeping ‎requirements‎ ‎
  • Identify, analyze, and provide training for individualized needs identified as a result of ‎post-test/performance monitoring ‎
  • ‎Arrange and conduct orientation classes for all newly hired personnel
  • ‎Maintain current certification in Basic Life Support, and perform this skill when ‎necessary
  • ‎Research and development of regularly updated resource guide of professional training ‎opportunities available to facility personnel
  • ‎‎Perform all duties assigned in a cooperative, effective, timely and professional manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing
