
The Nursing Professional Development Generalist (NPDG) supports the continuum of learning and professional development to promote and maintain clinical competence in role performance across assigned units. The role exists to assess staff learning needs, evaluate clinical knowledge, skills, and attitudes, and plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based professional development activities that support individual and organizational goals.
Operating under general supervision, the NPDG provides leadership and direction to nursing staff with a focus on nurses new to their roles, ensuring alignment with departmental priorities and strategic objectives. The role contributes to optimizing patient outcomes, decreasing harm, and advancing quality and safety initiatives by fostering positive practice environments and supporting attainment of strategic goals.
The NPDG facilitates shared governance practices and utilizes the nursing process to guide professional development planning and support clinical practice across the assigned scope of responsibility.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate program required with at least 5 years of progressively responsible duties in clinical nursing practice required.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Role and Unit specific coverage preferred
Previous teaching experience is strongly preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, required.
Basic Life Support current status required
Certification in a relevant specialty or practice area (or within 6 months).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS PREFERRED:
BLS/ACLS Instructor Status is highly desired.
Role Specific PALS and/or TNCC Instructor Status desired.
National certification in Nursing Professional Development (NPD) is strongly desired (or when eligible).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSAs):
Primary hours day shift, with flexibility to cover needs of NPD department.
Compensation Range:
$83,000.00- $120,500.00
This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer.
