This 10 week paid summer internship May 24th - July 31st offers nursing
students hands-on experience in one designated clinical area, such as the
hospital, clinic, home care, and long-term care settings.
Interns work 36–40 hours per week, gaining hands-on clinical nursing experience while being supported by experienced RN preceptors. It is more than an
internship, it is a chance to explore your future in nursing with a team that
values your growth and compassion.

Nursing Service at Avera requires all nurses and student nurses to practice at a competent level of nursing care and demonstrate a competent and professional level of behavior in the role. The ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice are exemplified within the position description. The Nurse Clinical Intern, under the direction and guidance of a Registered Nurse mentor, is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide nursing care for the patient, assuming responsibility and accountability for individual actions and outcomes of patient care delivered.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
