Stroke and Surgery Patients
The Nursing Assistant (NA) works as a patient care support partner in collaboration with the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Under the direction and delegation of the RN/LPN, the NA provides direct patient care and supports unit operations.
This role is responsible for delivering basic patient care and comfort while demonstrating an understanding of the specific needs of the patient population served. The NA assists in the care of acutely ill patients and is expected to practice medical asepsis, maintain patient dignity and privacy, and respect cultural differences in all interactions.
The Nursing Assistant maintains a safe and organized patient care environment, supports unit operations (including supply and equipment management), and responds appropriately in emergency situations. Accurate communication and documentation in the electronic health record are essential components of this role.
