The Riverside University Health System's (RUHS) - Medical Center seeks a Nursing Assistant - Per Diem to join our team in Moreno Valley to support the Inpatient Pharmacy Department.
As a Per Diem Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of medications from the pharmacy to the nursing units. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate medication temperature logs and monitoring medication expiration dates.
The Nursing Assistant is an entry-level classification and typically reports to appropriate supervisory or management-level nursing staff. Incumbents may be assigned to any outpatient clinic or inpatient nursing unit across the Riverside University Health System (RUHS) or within the Department of Public Health. Per diem personnel are distinguished from regular employees in that they receive additional compensation in lieu of County fringe benefits and work assignments are flexibly scheduled or on an on-call basis.
Examples of Essential Duties (may include but not limited to)
Under supervision, assists professional nursing personnel or other professional healthcare providers in providing basic patient care and treatment in a per diem employment capacity; observes patients via video monitoring equipment from a remote location; performs nonprofessional nursing duties in the care of physically and mentally ill patients; performs other related duties as required.
Schedule:
- 3/12 Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week, Tuesday through Thursday, for a total of 72 hours per pay period. This is a set schedule.
- Graveyard Shift: 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m., as needed.
- Schedule Flexibility: Work schedules and/or shift times are subject to change based on operational needs.
Salary Range:
$28.7000 Hourly
Per Diem Nursing Shift Differentials:
Evening Shift Diff (600pm - 11:30pm)$.35 for the time actually worked between the hours
Night Shift Diff (11:00pm - 7:00am) $.75 for the time actually worked between the hours

Education: Successful completion of the education required by the State of California to obtain the necessary valid license/certifications as indicated below.

Possession of a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate issued by the American Heart Association is required.
Temporary Assignment Program (TAP): Current CNA Certification, Paramedic license or EMT Certification must be maintained while in TAP employment.
Knowledge of: The principles, methods and techniques of basic patient care and safety; patient vital signs, basic medical terminology; safe patient handling techniques, including lifting, positioning and transfer methods.
Ability to: Read, write and speak the English language; learn the principles, methods and procedures of basic patient care; learn hospital and/or clinic routines and techniques; perform bedside nursing care in an understanding and sympathetic manner; follow oral and written directions; keep simple records; apply proper body mechanics in lifting and moving patients.
