Serving the Homewood community, Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital is a 595-bed acute-care hospital located in Birmingham, Alabama. The facility offers a full complement of services, including emergency care, cardiovascular care, bariatrics, orthopedics and rehabilitation, and surgical services. It also is one of the largest providers of psychiatric care in the state. The hospital has earned Primary Stroke Center certification from The Joint Commission, and its bariatric program has been accredited as a Comprehensive Center by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). The Women’s Medical Center provides comprehensive women’s services through all stages of life, including gynecologic surgery, maternity care, and labor and delivery services. Additionally, the Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) holds Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care from The Joint Commission.

At Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital the Nursing Assistant II performs patient care to patients under the direction and supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.

In this versatile unit you have the opportunity to provide care, and gain knowledge and experience with a variety of acute care patients. You will work with a broad range of disease processes, including but not limited to: heart failure, renal failure, respiratory failure, diabetes-related complications, infectious diseases such as cellulitis, pneumonia, UTI, sepsis, etc., gastrointestinal problems, wounds, malnutrition, as well as alcohol and substance abuse/withdrawal. Essential Functions
Education/TrainingHigh school graduate or equivalent
One (1) year of nursing assistant work experience within the past five years may be substituted for completion of one of the below trainings• Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Assistant Program; or• State of Alabama Certified Nursing Assistant certification;or• State of Alabama Licensed Practical Nurse; or
• Graduate of an approved school of nursing;or• Medical Corpsman, Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic; or• Medical personnel licensed outside the United States Licensure/Certification
Licensure/CertificationMaintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
ExperienceOne (1) year of experience within the past five years in a relevant healthcare setting. No experience required for graduates of an approved school of nursing, or other trainings listed in training requirements.
