The Nursing Advisor is accountable for providing clinical guidance, advocacy, and building external relationships to promote the Family Connects program. Overall, the Nursing Advisor contributes to CHS’s strategic objective of reimagining what HOME means by creating spaces where every child and family is supported and has access to the opportunities they need to pursue their dreams.

Primary Job Functions
1. Provide clinical guidance, advocacy, and external relationship building to promote the Family Connects program with colleagues.
Clinical Guidance
- Develop clinical guidelines, including criteria for normal vs. abnormal assessment findings, and outline how nurses should respond to abnormal findings in the field.
- Review clinical guidelines annually and update as needed to reflect current evidence and practice feedback.
- Participate in case conference as available, offering clinical input to support comprehensive care planning.
- Answer clinical questions from nursing staff as needed to support clinical decision-making and confidence in the field.
Advocacy
- Advocate for high-quality, equitable healthcare on behalf of patients and nurse home visitors, ensuring family needs are centered in care delivery.
- Advocate for systems-level change based on program data, Community Advisory Board input, and reports from nurses and families.
- Use frontline insights to identify barriers and recommend policy or practice improvements that support better maternal and infant outcomes.
External Relationship Building
- Enthusiastically recommend the Family Connects program to hospital and outpatient clinical staff to increase awareness and engagement.
- Promote best practices in program marketing and scheduling within hospital and outpatient settings to ensure consistent and efficient referrals.
- Build strong external relationships by serving as a positive representative of the program in meetings, outreach efforts, and partner communications.
- Clinicians with expertise in infant health will need to consult with clinicians who have expertise in maternal health and vice versa, required.
2. Contribute to a positive, engaging work environment.
- Develop a strong knowledge base and stay current on job-related issues, best practices, and trends.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings, training and education, as well as the quality process.
- Comply with CHS’s code of conduct, policies, procedures and other obligations.
- Assist with training other team members and providing back-up when necessary.
- Pick up projects on the fly; perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
Job Qualifications
Education, Licenses & Certifications:
- Master’s degree in Certified Nurse Midwife, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant from an accredited University, required.
- Florida Driver’s License within 30 days from hire with daily access to a reliable and insured vehicle, required.
Experience:
- Infant health expertise and knowledge collaborating with maternal health providers, preferred.
- Specializing in Pediatrics, obstetrics, family medicine, or midwifery, preferred.
- Clinical Guidance, Advocacy, and external relationship building, preferred.
Competencies
