Job Description

Baby Room Leader in Staines-upon-Thames - Growing Nursery Group

£31-33k (experience and qualifications dependent)

Location: Staines-upon-Thames, Surrey, TW18, close to the Two Rivers shopping centre

Working pattern: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with the nursery open from 7.30am to 6pm

Our client is a growing nursery group with a stunning 120-place nursery in the heart of Staines-upon-Thames, opened in 2025 and already building a brilliant reputation locally. Thanks to that growth, they’re opening a brand new baby room and are looking for a Baby Room Leader to lead it, caring for babies from birth to 16 months.

This is a genuinely special opportunity for a baby room practitioner ready to step up or an experienced Room Leader who loves working with the very youngest children. Rather than inheriting someone else’s way of doing things, you’ll shape the new room from day one, setting the routines, the atmosphere and the standard of care that families will remember. It’s all within a beautifully converted building with excellent transport links by road and public transport, backed by owners and leaders who genuinely value their people.

On offer is a salary of £31-33k, a warm, people-first culture where staff happiness and retention are taken seriously, and realistic progression within a group that’s growing and has a strong track record of developing its team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Room leadership: Lead the new baby room day to day, setting high standards of practice and being a positive role model for the team.
  • Building the room: Help shape the new baby room from the start, from its routines and environment to the way the team works together.
  • Nurturing care: Make sure every baby’s care routines, including feeding, sleep and changing, are met with warmth, consistency and attention to each child’s individual needs.
  • Settling in: Support babies and their families through settling in, making those first steps into nursery feel calm and reassuring.
  • Learning and development: Plan sensory-rich, age-appropriate experiences in line with the EYFS framework, and take ownership of observations, assessments and planning for your key children.
  • Parent partnerships: Build trusting relationships with parents and carers, keeping them closely involved in their baby’s day and supporting families with any SEND needs.
  • Safeguarding: Keep every child safe and well, following safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.

About you:

  • Qualified: A full and relevant Level 3 (or above) early years qualification.
  • Baby room experience: Solid experience caring for babies and young children, with a real understanding of how the youngest children learn and develop.
  • EYFS knowledge: An in-depth understanding of the EYFS framework and how it applies to babies under 16 months.
  • Safeguarding: Detailed knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Natural leader: The confidence to guide and support a team, with the warmth, patience and calm that babies and parents need.

What’s in it for you:

  • A competitive salary of £31-33k, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • The chance to lead and shape a brand new baby room.
  • Access to your pay as you earn it.
  • Company pension.
  • Learning and development opportunities supporting both personal and professional growth.
  • Generous childcare discount.
  • Retail discounts.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Free access to a 24/7 online GP and 24/7 video vet.
