About the Role

We’re seeking a confident, proactive Team Leader – Nursing to lead a skilled nursing team delivering specialist withdrawal management services. You’ll set the clinical tone—providing strong leadership, driving high standards of care, and ensuring every client receives safe, high‑quality, person‑centred support throughout their withdrawal journey.

This is a hands‑on, fast‑moving role where your clinical expertise and leadership truly matter. You’ll support clients’ physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing in a safe, culturally responsive environment, while working closely with medical and multidisciplinary teams to deliver best‑practice care aligned with The Salvation Army’s mission and values.

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays is essential.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Lead, mentor, and support a dedicated nursing team
  • Deliver specialised withdrawal management and clinical assessments
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate resident care
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and care plans, including AN‑ACC requirements
  • Oversee medication management in line with legislation and policy
  • Collaborate with doctors and allied health professionals to coordinate care
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Poisons and Therapeutic Goods Act 1996
  • Champion safe practice, infection control, and WHS standards

What You Will Bring

  • Minimum 2 years’ AOD nursing experience, including mental health
  • Strong knowledge of withdrawal management and best‑practice guidelines
  • Skilled in triage, assessment, crisis intervention, and clinical decision‑making
  • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds
  • Excellent communication skills, including working with individuals displaying challenging behaviours
  • Strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
  • Solid administration and computer skills

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Nursing
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Willingness to work shifts, including weekends
  • Current Working With Children Check (Blue Card)
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Commitment to The Salvation Army Code of Conduct, including a drug, alcohol, and gambling‑free workplace
  • Minimum two years in recovery

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville.
