Team Leader – Nursing

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Team Leader – Nursing to lead a dedicated nursing team delivering specialist withdrawal management services This role provides clinical leadership, comprehensive assessments, and high-quality nursing care to individuals undergoing withdrawal, ensuring their physical, mental, and emotional needs are met in a safe, culturally appropriate and supportive environment

You will work in alignment with The Salvation Army’s mission and values, relevant legislation, and clinical guidelines, while collaborating with medical and multidisciplinary teams to ensure best-practice care and positive client outcomes.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Provide leadership and clinical oversight to the nursing team
  • Deliver specialised withdrawal management nursing care and clinical assessments
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate resident care needs
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation, care plans and reports, including AN-ACC requirements
  • Manage medication ordering, administration and storage in line with policies and legislation
  • Liaise with doctors and allied health professionals to coordinate treatment and care
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Poisons and Therapeutic Goods Act 1996
  • Promote safe practice, infection control and workplace health and safety standards

What you will bring:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in alcohol and other drugs (AOD) nursing, including mental health
  • Strong knowledge of withdrawal management guidelines and best practice
  • Demonstrated skills in triage, medical assessment, decision-making and crisis intervention
  • Proven ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds
  • Excellent communication skills, including working with individuals displaying challenging behaviours
  • High-level conflict resolution, negotiation and organisational skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong administration and computer skills

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Nursing
  • Current registration with AHPRA
  • Willingness and ability to work shifts, including weekends
  • Current Working With Children Check (Blue Card)
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Compliance with The Salvation Army Code of Conduct, including a drug, alcohol and gambling-free workplace
  • Minimum two years in recovery

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville.
