Job Description

This position can be located at any MCHS location and will involve travel to multiple MCHS sites.

The Nurse Supervisor Ambulatory supervises the day-to-day clinical operation of designated work unit(s) providing guidance and support to the clinical and support staff to ensure that quality patient or client focused care is delivered. When appropriate, the Nurse Supervisor Ambulatory provides professional patient care utilizing the nursing process in collaboration with the patient, families and interdisciplinary healthcare team to meet educational and discharge needs. This individual may assist in high-risk procedures, surgery and/or provide patient education in specific units. The Nurse Supervisor Ambulatory assures that appropriate care is delivered. In addition, the individual supports leadership through activities that include hiring and development of staff, teaching, community involvement, participation in committees and research (as applicable). The individual may also have clinical responsibilities (i.e., patient assignments) in some smaller work units.

The Cardiac Device RN Supervisor provides clinical and operational leadership for a complex, nurse-led cardiac device practice supporting patients and staff across Northwest Wisconsin (NWWI), Southwest Wisconsin (SWWI), and Southwest Minnesota (SWMN), with the potential of future expansion into Southeast Minnesota (SEMN). Regular travel throughout all three regions is required to provide on-site leadership, support staff and clinic operations across cardiac device clinic and outreach locations. Travel frequency will vary based on operational needs, including staff support, onboarding, education, and regional initiatives.

This working supervisor serves as a resource for cardiac device management, remote monitoring, device advisories, and clinical escalation while coordinating daily staffing, workload, and patient-care priorities. The role supports consistent, timely, and high-quality care across multiple clinic and outreach locations.

The supervisor leads efforts to standardize workflows, strengthen regulatory readiness, and improve quality, safety, access, and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include staff onboarding, education, competency development, mentorship, chart-audit oversight, template management, and the development of sustainable staffing and cross-coverage models.

The supervisor will collaborate with regional and enterprise partners to advance best practices, support Heart Rhythm Services convergence, implement innovative care models and promote a collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement and exceptional patient care.

Graduate of a baccalaureate, master’s, or doctorate nursing degree program. Master’s or doctorate preferred. Minimum of 2 years of nursing practice or progressive leadership experience required.

Additional Qualifications:

Demonstrated clinical experience working in a cardiac device clinic, including device interrogation and remote monitoring highly preferred. One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is preferred. Demonstrated leadership ability and interpersonal effectiveness required. Strong communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, problem solving, and computer skills required.

License and certification:

Current RN license by applicable state requirements. The position requires dual RN licensure for WI and MN.

Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Positions that are not on campus may not require current Basic Life Support (BLS) competency as determined by the work area. Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
