The Nurse Supervisor plays a vital role in overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care within our healthcare facility. Working closely with the Nurse Manager and other healthcare professionals, the Nurse Supervisor provides leadership, guidance, and support to nursing personnel, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment. The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for coordinating nursing activities, addressing staffing needs, and maintaining compliance with healthcare standards and regulations.
Work is performed with considerable independence by established regulations, policies, and procedures of the agency. Work is also performed per the Nurse Practice Act and under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager or
designee.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure all clients are treated with dignity and respect per Gaudenzia’s treatment model.
• Coordinate the timely counseling of clients on Disease Concepts of Addiction, HIV/AIDS, nutrition,
medication education, infectious diseases, mental health, etc
• Ensure that nursing staff are following required documentation guidelines within the timeframe dictated by
the level of care, licensing, and regulatory entities.
• Maintain adequate inventory of medical supplies and accurate records of same in compliance with
regulations and agency policy
• Ensure proper storage of medical supplies as required by regulation, including narcotic medication
according to DEA guidelines
• Provide direct supervision and guidance to nursing staff, including registered nurses, LPN’s, and CMT’s.
• Assign duties and responsibilities to nursing personnel based on patient needs, staffing levels, and skill sets.
• Serve as a resource and mentor nursing staff, offering support, guidance, and education as needed.
• Monitor patient care activities to ensure adherence to established protocols, standards of practice, and
regulatory requirements.
• Conduct regular rounds on patient units to assess patient status, address concerns, and ensure the provision
of safe and effective care.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and implement patient care plans, addressing any
changes or updates as necessary.
• Coordinate staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage of nursing services across all shifts and units.
• Assessing staffing needs based on patient acuity, census fluctuations, and staff availability, adjusting as
needed.
• Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and orientation of new nursing staff members.
• Participate in quality assurance activities, including audits, incident investigations, and performance
improvement initiatives.

This position reports directly to the Nurse Manager or designee
• Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators related to patient care outcomes, infection control, and
patient satisfaction.
• Implement new processes and process improvements to address identified issues and enhance quality of
care.
• Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, management, and other healthcare disciplines, facilitating
effective communication and collaboration.
• Communicate with patients and their families to address concerns, provide updates on patient status, and
ensure satisfaction with care.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate patient care and address care coordination
issues.
• Assumes Nurse Managers Duties during designated times, not to exceed more than 3 consecutive weeks
unless otherwise agreed upon in writing with Human Resources.
• Required to work every other weekend as determined by the Nurse manager and scheduling needs.
• Minimum Holiday requirement is 1 major summer holiday (Memorial Day, Independence Day, or Labor
Day), and 1 major winter Holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s day (Night shift: New Years Eve)),
as determined by the Nurse Manager and Scheduling needs.
• This position is deemed essential and will be required to work during inclement weather.
• For Gaudenzia sites with multiple programs, you may be required to work in any of the programs/sites based
on staffing needs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education/ Training:
• Degree from an accredited college or university’s professional nursing program; must
possess current RN license in good standing for the applicable state
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire nursing staff.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations, standards of practice, and quality improvement methodologies.
• Proficiency in computer skills and healthcare information systems.
• CPR certification and other relevant certifications may be required.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years nursing experience, with 1 year of experience treating individuals with substance use, mental
health, or other related disorders. Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical nursing experience, with demonstrated leadership
or supervisory experience. (May substitute BSN for 1 year of nursing experience and MSN for 2 years of nursing
experience and 1 year of charge nurse or supervisory experience.)
