
Nurse Scientist - Nursing Research260000AIAll nursing practice is based on the legal scope of practice, national and specialty nursing standards, Children's National Policies and Procedures, and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. The Professional Model of Care requires registered professional nurses to be responsible and accountable for their own practice. Children's National supports the development of RN relationships within the community; specifically those relationships associated with the health and well being of the community at large. The Nurse Scientist will conduct research to contribute to the achievement of the mission of Nursing and Patient Care Services, the Department of Nursing Research and Children's National. Will direct, develop and advise teams of people to create and implement evidence-based practice to promote quality patient care. Will administer nursing research policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, local and private regulations.

Required Skills/Knowledge
The Registered Nurse licensed in the District of Columbia will successfully complete hospital and nursing orientation at Children’s National.
Effective verbal and written communication skills to include grant writing, publications and professional presentations.
Ability to develop and oversee evidence-based practice/performance improvement/research/grant projects and budgets.
Eligible for graduate faculty appointment at George Washington University and/or other area universities.
Expertise in conducting one or more of the following - performance improvement, research, research utilization and knowledge development activities.
Knowledgeable about health care trends and research priorities/directions at the national, regional and local level.
