Job Description

Piedmont Pediatrics is seeking an enthusiastic, caring, and responsible RN or LPN for a rewarding full-time or part-time position in our busy pediatric office to help us keep little patients healthy and smiling! We work together to provide excellent care to our patients and their families and value long-term relationships with our patients and our team built on mutual trust and respect.

Piedmont Pediatrics is a closely owned, independent pediatric practice striving to provide personalized, comprehensive, and family-oriented care. Pediatric experience is preferred but not required. Pay is commensurate with licensure and experience. We offer excellent benefits such as: Paid Time Off; 401k; Health Insurance and Paid Holidays.

Our full-time nurses typically work 4 days each week, totalling 36-40 hours. The practice is open seven days a week with Saturday and Sunday worked on a rotational basis, about one weekend every 5-6 weeks. We have offices in both Charlottesville and Crozet and our team is regularly scheduled in both locations. Hourly differential is paid for weekend work. We welcome nurses who may want to work part time!

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the mission of Piedmont Pediatrics
  • Prepare exam rooms for examination of patients while keeping patient areas clean and well stocked
  • Perform initial assessment of patients, measure vital signs (e.g. pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, respirations, weight and height) and record information in patient’s chart
  • Participate in implementation and evaluation of patient care
  • Prepare for and assist providers during examinations and procedures
  • Thorough and clear communication with team in regard to patient care
  • Update team on the status of patient flow so the need for assistance can be assessed quickly and appropriate scheduling maintained to reduce patients' wait times
  • Phone triage using Clear Triage guidelines
  • Maintain and organize all instruments, drugs, equipment and supplies
  • Prepare and administer vaccines, medications, nebulizer and other treatments as directed by the provider
  • Perform calibrations and other quality control tests on laboratory equipment
  • Accurately obtain specimens, ensure lab testing is performed and results are documented
  • Handle urgent or emergency situations in collaboration with the clinical team
  • Share anticipatory guidance and educational information with patients as well as completing lab forms, school forms, medication forms and other needed documents for patients
  • Promote a safe working environment in accordance with applicable laws and regulations including HIPAA and OSHA
  • Perform all office and lab opening/closing duties if assigned
  • Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude under all circumstances
  • Attend all team meetings and daily huddles as well as any project trainings
  • Participate in flu and other vaccine clinics seasonally

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • One year of nursing experience preferred
  • License to practice as an LPN or RN in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • CPR certification required
  • Strong verbal communication skills, ability to multi-task, and pay close attention to detail
  • Flexibility with rotating work schedule- evening and weekend hours required

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Competency in operating medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge required to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Skilled in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide patient care.
  • Possess the ability to maintain quality control standards, react calmly and effectively in emergencies, interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures, communicate clearly, and work effectively with co-workers, while maintaining confidentiality of clinical information
