Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Be familiar with SHS’s program philosophies, goals, and objectives. Be cognizant of and comply with all SHS’s policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations
  • Adhere to disease management protocols, and key clinical pathways, and use them to improve clinical performance.
  • Work with Quality Improvement to ensure compliance with clinical measures
  • Performs direct patient care primarily for reproductive health, contraceptive care, IUD and Nexplanon insertion and removal; antenatal, perinatal, and postpartum care, including history-taking, physical examination, diagnostic procedures, therapy, and follow-up under established protocols
  • Prescribes and administers routine medical treatment; plans and initiates health maintenance and rehabilitation for each patient, including methods such as special diets, exercises, vitamin supplements, immunizations, etc.; writes prescriptions for medication; orders and interprets laboratory analysis and X-rays; performs outpatient clinical procedures
  • Perform all procedures using sterile techniques and CDC guidelines
  • Educates and counsels patient and/or family about women’s health, normal developmental stages, health management, nutrition practices, chronic diseases, and medications, etc., intervening where appropriate
  • Refers secondary conditions as necessary, assisting in further examination, diagnosis, and treatment; makes appropriate referrals to external and internal services for health and psychosocial needs, including follow-up to ensure patient compliance
  • Institutes emergency measures in life-threatening situations
  • Participates in clinical peer chart reviews
  • Understand the requirements of SHS’s exposure protocol and ensures compliance with this plan by assigned support staff.
  • Personally utilize universal precautions when practicing in the clinical setting
  • Facilitate needed referrals, in coordination with referral coordinator and nurses according to SHS policy
  • Participate in staff outreach and off-site health care programs requiring Women’s health Services and represent SHS in the community
  • Advise and assist mid-level providers as needed in accordance with approved protocols and procedures
  • Complete all duties, responsibilities, and competencies in a manner that is appropriate to the age groups to whom care / services are being provided
  • Assist in the review of clinical protocols and patient education materials in collaboration with senior management
  • Provide necessary information and signatures for participation in reimbursement arrangements, such as Medicare, Medicaid, and other plans
  • Provide off-hours and Saturday center coverage on occasion
  • Report to Clinical Director any pertinent information or situations that impact on patient care or SHS liability
  • Provide a leadership role for medical support staff
  • Make recommendations to the leadership regarding the purchase of clinical supplies, instruments, and equipment, and repair and/or maintenance
  • Demonstrate ability to work cooperatively with other members of the clinical team. Be supportive of coworkers
  • Maintain neat and professional appearance at all times
  • Participates in continuing education programs to remain current on professional development and practices and to maintain Pennsylvania licensure
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Three to five years’ experience in an ambulatory setting preferred
  • A master’s degree in Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Board Certified in Women’s Health
  • Current DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) Certificate
  • Computer literacy

Other Skills & Knowledge

Incumbent required to be self-motivated and be able to work independently. Requires travel to three SHS sites and the physical demands associated with clinical practice
