Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The NP functions in an interdependent role by implementing the appropriate Standardized Procedures (SPs). By using the SPs the NP is able to change treatment regimen after observing signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, general behavior and physical condition and determines if they are abnormal findings (Ca Nursing Practice Act, subsection(b) of Section 2725). The NP will provide and coordinate the care of patients, provide patient/family education, and promote safe continuity of care. The NP also participates in interdisciplinary and clinical rounds, assists in wound care, ensures patient follow up has been scheduled, provides education and support, as well as makes appropriate referrals and documents services rendered. In addition, the NP will participate in weekly outpatient clinic, respond to trauma activations, cover consults and pager as needed, write daily progress notes, discharge summaries and procedure notes as needed for patients on the trauma and acute care surgery service. The NP will collaborate with trauma and acute care surgical faculty, residents, interns, trauma nurse navigator, social work, case manager and trauma program manager in order to provide quality care and improved patient outcomes.

Salary range : NP 2: $93.81- $133.97/hourly, NPI (less than 6 months NP exp: $84.62/hourly



Job Qualifications


• MSN or DNP with Adult- Gero Acute Care NP specialty- required
• CA RN and NP certification, State of CA NP Furnishing with Schedule II- required
• National NP Board certification in Adult-Gero Acute Care/Adult Acute Care NP specialty - required; or if current FNP- Acute Care in progress (must have ACNP at time of offer)
• NPI#, DEA#, Enrollment in PECOS, Enrollment on CURES- required
• 2 yrs experience NP experience- preferred
• 3 years surgical ICU nursing or 5 years medical surgical nursing experience
• BLS and ACLS from AHA or ARC- required
• ATLS preferred, or to be completed upon hire
• NPI (less than 6 months experience as a NP) If NPI, must have min of 3 years surgical or ICU experience in RN role-required
• NP1: less than 6 months NP exp-required
• NP2: 6+ months NP experience-required
• Ability to utilize excel, word and other software programs -required
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with administrative, clinical and academic personnel-required
• Skill in working independently and following through with minimum direction-required
• Ability to set priorities- required
• Demonstrate writing skills to compose logical, detailed and grammatically correct correspondence-required
• Document patient care in a concise and comprehensive manner- required
