Children’s Hospital of Michigan is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Pediatric Urology team. This position provides an opportunity to work collaboratively with experienced pediatric urologists in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment focused on delivering high-quality care to pediatric patients and their families.

The NP will provide independent and collaborative patient care, including evaluation and management of pediatric urology patients, follow-up visits, patient education, and coordination of care. The role will support the department’s newborn circumcision program, including consultation and performance of office-based circumcision procedures as appropriate.

The position offers the opportunity to work closely with three pediatric urologists in a teaching environment, with mentorship and a transition period designed to support success within the department.

Position Highlights:

We are looking for an NP who is patient-focused, team-oriented, enthusiastic about pediatric care, and interested in specialized pediatric urology practice.


Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive newborn circumcision consultations and clinical evaluations.
  • Obtain medical histories and perform focused physical examinations.
  • Determine patient eligibility and appropriateness for office-based circumcision.
  • Perform newborn circumcision procedures in accordance with established department protocols.
  • Provide pre- and post-procedure education to parents and caregivers.
  • Obtain informed consent and discuss risks, benefits, alternatives, and expected outcomes.
  • Provide appropriate follow-up recommendations and address post-procedure concerns.
  • Document patient encounters, consultations, procedures, and follow-up care accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Collaborate with Pediatric Urology physicians, nursing staff, and other members of the care team.
  • Support scheduling and workflow processes to improve access and increase newborn circumcision volumes.
  • Maintain compliance with Children’s Hospital of Michigan and departmental policies, clinical standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in orientation, training, and ongoing competency requirements related to newborn circumcision services.

Qualifications

Education:

Required: Master's Prepared Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner.

  • Current Michigan NP licensure and appropriate certification

Experience:

Prior urology or pediatric urology experience is preferred but not required.

Pediatric experience preferred

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current Michigan NP licensure and appropriate certification
  • Strong interest in developing expertise in pediatric urology
  • Excellent communication, clinical, and collaboration skills

Certifications:

Required: Must be currently licensed, certified or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy. RNP License. Additional certification(s) per governing board and in accordance with the facility Medical Staff Bylaws.
