
The CV Surgery Mechanical Circulatory Support Device (MCSD) program is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work with our multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and NP PAs in managing care of patients with Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD) in the CV Surgery LVAD clinic. The position involves providing consultation and evaluation of heart failure patients for LVAD implantation as well as long-term management of the patients after LVAD implantation. The provision of care includes, but is not limited to: comprehensive assessment and diagnosis, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacological agents and treatments, and determining the ongoing plan of care for this medically complex patient population, ensuring comprehensive communication with members of the patients care team, and providing support for external medical providers and facilities caring for the LVAD patients in both emergent and non-emergent situations. Cross coverage with the CV Surgery outpatient clinic will also be expected, seeing pre-operative and post-operative cardiovascular surgery patients. Ability to assist in research, education, and quality improvement projects are available and encouraged. Prior LVAD experience is highly recommended.
Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license and certification (or eligible to be certified) as a FNP, ANP, or ACNP; or
Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice (or eligible). Must be eligible for DEA registration and billing privileges.
