
The role of the general cardiology nurse practitioner/physician assistant includes providing comprehensive direct and indirect patient care including outpatient clinic and inpatient hospital service including clinic return/established patients, inpatient consultations and rounding.
The position requires the ability to communicate with physicians regarding changes in patient's clinical condition; results of diagnostic studies; and patient symptomatology as appropriate. In response to changes in patient condition; accurately and effectively modifies therapeutic interventions. Our team-based care model requires strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate and work together as part of a team.
Nurse Practitioner: Active Wisconsin R.N. license with eligibility to practice professional nursing in the State of Wisconsin. National certification (e.g. ANCC or AANP) as a Nurse Practitioner with recertification every 5 years under regulating agencies guidelines. Current prescriptive authority in the state of Wisconsin (APNP certification and DEA) obtaining 8 contact hours per year in clinical pharmacology/therapeutics relevant to Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber’s area of practice. Current BLS and ACLS certification.
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant Program; NCCPA Certified and licensed through the State of Wisconsin. Must complete 100 hours of CME every two (2) years and take the recertification exam every ten (10) years. Must be supervised by licensed physician. Prescriptive Authority in the State of Wisconsin (WI Board of Medical Examiners and DEA). Current BLS and ACLS certification. Eligible for hospital and clinic privileges.
