Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The NP functions in an interdependent role by implementing the appropriate Standardized Procedures (SPs). In collaborative practice with the Medical Director, attending physicians and fellows, the NP will be responsible for providing independent clinical assessment and patient care management services for Hematology/Oncology clinic patients. Incumbent must be self-directed and function with minimal direct supervision.

Will work primarily in Santa Monica but may need to cover the Beverly Hills location as needed.


Salary range:

NP2: $93.81-$133.92/hourly

NP1 (less than 6 months exp): $84.62/hourly


Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Current CA Licensure as RN and Nurse Practitioner-required
  • Current BLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross-required
  • Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner Specialty-required
  • NPI #, DEA #,-required
  • Enrollment in PECOS, Enrollment in CURES-required
  • National Certification in NP specialty-required
  • 1-2 years of Oncology NP experience- preferred
  • Ability to independently prioritize work with minimal direct supervision-required
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of individuals in many complex settings-required
  • Skills and abilities to perform history and physical examinations of oncology patients-required
  • Skills and abilities to perform accurate assessment and evaluation of oncology patients-required
  • Skills and abilities to develop and implement appropriate treatment plans under established protocol and physician supervision-required
  • Ability to triage patients accurately after evaluating their vital signs, symptoms, findings, etc-required
  • Ability to intervene to deal with patient problems when physicians are not immediately available-required
  • Ability to write clearly and distinctly so as to accurately and concisely communicate using the medical record or business correspondence-required
  • Ability to use electronic medical record (EHR)/EPIC/CareConnect to obtain pertinent patient information-required
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision in the outpatient environment while performing a variety of tasks-required
  • Ability to use computer for standard word processing, spreadsheet and database functions in order to develop communications and to store necessary patient data-required
  • Detailed background in oncology clinical medicine-required
  • Knowledge and ability to organize, coordinate, and follow complex clinical regimens-required
  • Skill in communicating and translating medical information to patients and their families, including giving patients and families an understanding of their medical condition and what they might expect in the future-required
  • Knowledge and proficiency of the English language sufficient to read medical reports and records with comprehension and to prepare reports and correspondence-required
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality-required
  • Ability to interact effectively and communicate accurately with patients, colleagues and referring physicians-required
  • Skill in working as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues-required
  • Ability to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload and frequent interruption-required
