Job Description

The Nurse Practitioner Clinic examines and treats patients independently and in autonomous collaboration with other health care professionals following established standards and practices. Ensures proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Relies on education, experience, professional training and judgement to accomplish responsibilities. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Works under minimal supervision under the direction of the collaborating physician, as appropriate. May lead and direct the work of others within scope of practice.

  1. Clinical Practice Guidelines
    1. Adheres to mutually agreed upon Clinical Practice Guidelines and scope of practice with collaborating physician.
  2. Quality
    1. Delivers primary acute or chronic care focusing on the maintenance, achievement, and restoration of optimal functions of patients.
    2. Consistently exhibits a professional manner, appearance, and performance in the approach to job related duties in an effort to maintain high standard delivery of health care. When in contact with pediatric, adolescent, or geriatric patients, performs all patient care duties in a manner that demonstrates a humanistic attitude for the physical and psychological needs relevant to the age of the patient served.
    3. Promotes the quality and efficiency of his/her own performance by remaining current with the latest trends in field of expertise through participation in job-relevant seminars and workshops, attendance at professional conferences, and affiliations with national and state professional organizations.
  3. Teamwork
    1. Recognizes behaviors that impact the team function and implements strategies to optimize teamwork; serves as a mentor for team members.
    2. Seeks leadership opportunities, facilitates leadership development among colleagues.
    3. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others. Has respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines. Uses and integrated approach to patient outcomes.
  4. Other duties as assigned
    1. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Master's Degree
  • BLS Certification; Current LA state RN license from LSBN; Current LA Advanced Practice license from LSBN;
  • Certification in an Advanced Practice role by one of the national organizations listed by Louisiana State Board of Nursing: AANP/ AACN/ AMCB/ ANCC/ NBCRNA/ NCC OR PNCB
