We are seeking a highly skilled and autonomous Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our multidisciplinary cognitive neurology healthcare team. The Nurse Practitioner will conduct comprehensive health assessments and provide expert diagnosis and treatment for individuals, families, and communities experiencing actual or potential health problems. This role integrates clinical expertise with education, research, leadership, and consultation while collaborating closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with state practice guidelines and national certification standards.

Major Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive health assessments, including obtaining detailed patient histories, conducting in-depth physical examinations, and ordering/interpreting diagnostic tests.
  • Analyze clinical data to determine health status and develop differential diagnoses.
  • Formulate and implement patient-centered plans of care in collaboration with physicians and patients.
  • Manage acute and chronic illnesses using established clinical protocols and modify treatment plans as needed to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Prescribe medications in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Document patient care, monitor outcomes, and communicate findings with collaborating physicians.
  • Provide patient and family education, including coordination of care during admission, transition, and discharge.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, consultants, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Assist with procedures in the operating room and endoscopic settings as outlined in departmental protocols (role dependent).
  • Participate in departmental responsibilities such as on-call coverage, weekend rotations, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain delineation of clinical privileges and comply with credentialing requirements.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through continuing education, literature review, and departmental training.

Specialty-Specific Responsibilities

Ambulatory Care Nurse Practitioners

  • Provide care aligned with specialty certification (e.g., OB/GYN, Pediatrics).
  • Collaborate with physicians for complex cases.
  • Maintain specialty certification and license-specific competencies.
  • Complete practice guidelines with supervision physician

Acute Care Nurse Practitioners

  • Manage acutely ill patients and respond to urgent clinical needs.
  • Formulate and adjust care plans under physician supervision.
  • Provide care for patients with acute and chronic conditions.

Critical Care Nurse Practitioners

  • Perform advanced procedures including central line placement, arterial catheter insertion, lumbar puncture, paracentesis, and thoracentesis.
  • Provide patient and family support during critical illness.
  • Maintain division-specific competencies.
  • Participate in telemedicine ICU (eICU) rotation.

Standard Staffing Responsibilities

  • Comply with all departmental policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Participate in meetings, conferences, and educational activities as required.
  • Demonstrate commitment to quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
  • Foster a professional, respectful, and inclusive work environment.
  • Maintain reliable and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • National Nurse Practitioner certification in the appropriate specialty.
  • Current Massachusetts Nurse Practitioner license.
  • Eligibility for prescriptive authority (Schedules II–VI).

Preferred

  • 3–5 years of Nurse Practitioner experience.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
