The Fairfax County Sheriff's Office is seeking a dedicated and compassionate nurse practitioner to join the healthcare team at the Adult Detention Center. Working as part of a multidisciplinary care team, the nurse practitioner provides comprehensive healthcare services, including physical examinations, laboratory and diagnostic procedures, assessment and treatment, medication management, health education, and development of individualized treatment plans. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering quality healthcare in a challenging and rewarding setting.

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in nursing; plus, a master's degree in nursing as a clinical nurse practitioner; Depending upon area of assignment, may require one year of experience as a certified nurse practitioner.
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, polygraph exam, pre-employment medical evaluation, psychological exam, and tuberculosis test to the satisfaction of the employer.
This position is emergency/essential services personnel. (Required to report for duty during inclement weather and/or other emergencies.)
Additional Work Schedule Requirements: Must be able to work a shift work schedule which includes evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to communicate effectively with clients, medical professionals, health care professionals and community members. Ability to quickly assess an emergency and respond appropriately. Duties are performed in a medical environment within a jail. Maintain physical requirements needed to perform the duties. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
Panel interview and may include exercise.
