About us

Riccarton Clinic is a well-established, multidisciplinary healthcare provider located at Church Corner in Upper Riccarton, Christchurch. We offer both comprehensive General Practice and accredited Urgent Care services, delivering a wide range of healthcare support to promote the physical and mental wellbeing of our community. General Practice services operate on weekdays, while our Urgent Care service is open from 8.00am to 8.00pm, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

With a collaborative team of more than 110 healthcare professionals and a range of onsite support services, we are committed to providing high-quality, accessible, and patient-centred care to enrolled patients, casual visitors, and the wider community. About the role

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our experienced clinical team. This role provides the opportunity to work across both General Practice and Urgent Care, delivering advanced nursing care to patients with acute and ongoing healthcare needs.

You will work autonomously within your scope of practice while collaborating closely with doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.

This is a permanent role with flexibility across rostered shifts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage patients across urgent care and primary care services.
  • Prescribe medications within scope of practice and current clinical guidelines.
  • Manage acute presentations and provide timely interventions.
  • Deliver preventative care, health promotion, and patient education.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow up on investigations.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a Nurse Practitioner who is passionate about delivering accessible, high-quality care and building strong patient relationships.

The successful candidate will ideally possess:

  • Current Nurse Practitioner registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
  • Experience in urgent care, emergency, acute, or primary care settings.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience prescribing within scope of practice.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Commitment to health equity and culturally responsive practice.
