We Require
Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner educational program
Must possess a valid unrestricted license to practice as a Nurse practitioner issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing and be in good standing
We Also Value

Job Contributions
Obtain and document patient health histories, perform patient examinations, assess patient needs, establish working diagnoses, and determine and perform appropriate medical procedures based on clinical findings and diagnosis
Provides patient care services during regular clinic hours, assigned weekend and evening coverage, including travel to clinic and outreach sites throughout Maricopa County to deliver healthcare services in community-based settings
Document subjective and objective findings in a complete and organized manner. Prepare client assessments and client plans in a clear, logical manner
Prescribe and dispense medication in accordance with state and federal regulations
Provide basic health education and counseling
Coordinate medical resources to meet patient needs
Order appropriate imaging and laboratory tests as indicated. Able to interpret all lab results, view and interpret CXR, and apply towards diagnosis and treatment plan
Assist with the development of teaching curricula for sexually transmitted infections and tuberculosis (including latent tuberculosis) that meet the needs of a variety of healthcare professionals and students in training in collaboration with experienced colleagues based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other standards
Upon completion of training, serves on a rotational basis as the provider on-call to receive high-priority public health reports during night, weekend, and holiday hours, and provides medical or infection control guidance to healthcare providers with back-up support from a public health physician
Teach healthcare workers in training (including nursing, nurse practitioners, and medical students, medical residents, and fellows) how to obtain a health history, screen for, perform a clinical examination, and diagnose and treat tuberculosis, latent tuberculosis, and sexually transmitted diseases.
Working Conditions
Telework is not available; position will work primarily in a clinical setting, but may have the opportunity to work in a field setting or mobile healthcare unit
Ability to exert up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly, and requires walking/standing to a significant degree
Employees must have reliable transportation, and may have to travel to another location if coverage is needed
Valid Arizona driver’s license is required upon hire
Must be able to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergency
Must secure and maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card and complete and pass a background check
Current CPR and First Aid Certification is required upon hire
Within one month of hire, all employees will be required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
