FlexStaff- Nurse Manager (RN) - Behavioral Health

Location: Brooklyn, NY (Onsite)

Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday

Salary Range: $145,000 – $160,000 annually

FlexStaff is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Nurse Manager to lead our client’s Behavioral Health unit. This is an exceptional opportunity for a qualified RN with proven leadership in a hospital psychiatric setting to make a meaningful impact on patient care and team development. Key Qualifications:

  • Must have experience managing a psychiatric unit within a hospital setting.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • At least 5 years of clinical experience in psychiatry.
  • A minimum of 2 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Valid NY State RN license and current licensure.
  • BLS and ACLS certified.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead interdisciplinary teams, oversee regulatory compliance (JCAHO, NYSDOH, OMH, DOHMH, ACS), and implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in budget management, performance improvement, and clinical operations.
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, and computer skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s in Nursing preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the psychiatric unit, ensuring high-quality patient care while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Foster positive relationships with patients, visitors, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee daily operations, including staffing, budgeting, supply management, and clinical workflows.
  • Coordinate performance improvement activities, utilizing benchmarks and data analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, standards, and hospital policies.
  • Monitor admissions, discharges, and discharge planning to optimize clinical management.
  • Prepare reports and data for regulatory agencies such as NY State OMH, DOH, JCAHO, and others.
  • Provide administrative coverage for the Nursing Department as needed.
  • Promote continuing education and professional development within the team.
  • Drive innovative practices and uphold the hospital’s philosophy of nursing and ethical standards. Participate in virtual interviews and onboarding processes.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven leadership experience managing a psychiatric unit in a hospital setting.
  • Strong knowledge of quality improvement models, root cause analysis, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to utilize electronic health records and healthcare systems effectively.
  • Commitment to professional growth and maintaining current clinical knowledge.
