General Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Critical Care Services, the Manager of the Progressive Care and Intensive Care Unit’s are responsible for overseeing the daily operations and clinical activities within each department. Supervision of patient care delivery and unit management as it aligns with organizational and departmental goals. The Manager provides general supervision of nursing personnel and staff training and inter-departmental relationships. The position shall exemplify the desired Culture of Choice® and philosophies of Parrish Healthcare.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures strategic goals and objectives are met or exceeded by providing the management and oversight necessary to ensure areas of responsibility have the proper resources, metrics and talent in place to effectively achieve Game Plan goals and to extend the reach of our mission and vision.
  • Facilitates staff analysis and improvement plans for the department employee engagement; accountable for applying evidence-based employee rounding tools and techniques; uses problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with care team members; mentors Leads and aspiring staff; and spearheads effective employee engagement initiatives.
  • Coordinates daily staffing to cover call-ins and shortages and overages for each unit and in collaboration with in-patient management. Acts as staffing coordinator weekly, as needed. Coordinates monthly unit time schedules.
  • Communicate (Rounding) with patients, families, staff, physicians, multi-disciplines and other departments. Represents Nursing and participates on committees, as assigned.
  • Evaluates care delivery, patient satisfaction, variances, customer surveys and work with staff to resolve problems.
  • Coordinates the activities on the unit, interviewing, hiring, unit orientation, staff development, unit meetings and education. Clinical resources for staff, and the ability to work in staffing if necessary.
  • Working alongside the Director of Critical Care Director to plan and prepare equipment budget. Prepare and monitor staffing budget and productivity. Monitors the utilization of unit resources and supplies, inspect and requisition repairs to maintain the infrastructure.
  • Acts as relief administrative supervisor.
  • Initiate, review, revise policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates staff performance and monitors performance appraisals. Identifies and documents situations that require further guidance and counseling of staff. Maintains competency files.
  • Participates and coordinates the unit’s process improvement projects utilizing the DMAIC process to improve the effectiveness of nursing practice. Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
  • Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as it pertains to the work area

Requirements:

Formal Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required. Associate’s Degree in Nursing with two years supervisory or management experience may be substituted for Bachelor’s Degree.

Work Experience:

  • 3 years to < 5 years of experience in related area with two of those years being supervisory or management experience.

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:

  • Clear and Active State of Florida RN licensure required.
  • BCLS and ACLS through the American Heart Association are required within 90 days of employment.
  • Specialty certifications preferred: CCRN or Leadership Certification
