Duties/Responsibilities
Collaborate with nursing leadership to establish, define, and communicate departmental goals consistent with organizational mission and goals
Promote family-centered care
Serve as a clinical resource to staff and other departments
Demonstrate effective problem solving, conflict management, and team-building skills
Effectively communicate and interpret policies, protocols, and standards
Evaluate patient care through observation of staff performance and review of the electronic medical record; holding staff accountable for their performance and behavior
Ensure continuity of quality patient care by planning and adjusting staffing for fluctuations in census and acuity
Assist the Director in preparing staff and unit for regulatory compliance surveys
Maintain clinical competence and provides direct patient care as needed
Follow all departmental and hospital wide policies
Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to work toward a mutually beneficial resolution to challenges
Effectively investigate, evaluate, and resolve physician, patient/family, and staff concerns, and keeps the Director informed
Maintain an effective working relationship with the interdisciplinary team and departmental leadership team
Complete behavior and performance-based performance evaluations as assigned on time
Demonstrate the Scottish Rite CARE RITE values
Required Skills/Abilities
Bachelor of Science in Nursing, BSN preferred
Current Texas RN license or eligible for a temporary permit from the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners
Minimum of 2 years nursing experience
Pediatric nursing experience preferred
Supervisory experience or demonstrated management skills preferred
American Heart Association BLS
PALS certification, or obtained within 6 months of hire
Competent in the use of basic office machinery, Windows OS, and the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
EPIC experience preferred
