
An acute care hospital in the Dulles area is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager – Behavioral Health to lead day-to-day nursing operations within an inpatient behavioral health unit. This leadership role is responsible for clinical oversight, staff management, patient safety, and regulatory compliance while fostering a supportive, high-performance nursing culture.

Manage daily operations of the Behavioral Health Nursing Department.
Provide leadership oversight to Charge Nurses and House Supervisors.
Ensure safe staffing, clinical quality, and adherence to nursing standards of care.
Support patient safety, therapeutic milieu management, and crisis prevention initiatives.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support continuity of care and treatment planning.
Monitor departmental performance, quality metrics, and regulatory compliance.
Coach, mentor, and develop nursing staff to promote engagement and retention.
Support hospital initiatives related to quality improvement, patient experience, and staff development.
Required
Active, unencumbered RN license (Virginia or compact eligible).
BSN required
Minimum 2 years of recent leadership experience (Nurse Manager, Supervisor, or Clinical Team Lead) within an acute care Behavioral Health unit
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (within 30 days of hire).
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification (within 30 days of hire).
Preferred
Prior experience managing inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health units.
Strong knowledge of behavioral health regulations, safety standards, and therapeutic care models.
