Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Aesthetic injections

  • Administer neuromodulators for glabellar lines, forehead, crow's feet, masseter, platysmal bands, and other approved areas.
  • Perform dermal filler treatments (lips, cheeks, chin, jawline, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, tear troughs where appropriate) using needle and cannula techniques.
  • Administer biostimulators (e.g., Sculptra, Radiesse) per protocol.
  • Recognize, manage, and escalate complications, including vascular occlusion, using the clinic's hyaluronidase and emergency protocols.

IV therapy

  • Start peripheral IVs and administer hydration, vitamin, and nutrient infusions per patient-specific orders.
  • Screen and monitor patients before, during, and after infusions; document vitals and response.
  • Manage infiltration, phlebitis, and adverse reactions per protocol.

Patient care and consultation

  • Conduct aesthetic consultations and facial assessments; build individualized treatment plans for approval by the ordering provider.
  • Confirm that a good faith exam and a valid order are on file before every treatment.
  • Obtain informed consent and provide pre- and post-care instructions; perform follow-up visits.

Documentation and compliance

  • Maintain accurate EMR charting, including product, lot number, units/volume, and injection sites.
  • Take standardized before-and-after photos.
  • Follow standardized procedures, OSHA, infection control, HIPAA, and controlled-inventory logging.

Practice growth

  • Recommend appropriate treatment plans and skincare, and support events and promotions.
  • Stay current on new products and techniques through continuing education.

Requirements

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Active, unrestricted California license as a Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA) — see licensing requirements below.
  • Minimum [2] years of hands-on experience injecting neuromodulators and dermal fillers, with a portfolio of before-and-after photos available on request.
  • Minimum [1] year of IV therapy experience (acute care, infusion, ER, or IV hydration clinic), with confident, independent IV starts.
  • Completion of formal hands-on neuromodulator and dermal filler training (certificates required).
  • Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
  • Working knowledge of facial anatomy, vascular danger zones, and complication management.
  • Strong communication and consultation skills; comfortable with EMR charting and photo documentation.
  • Able to stand for extended periods and work some evenings and weekends.

California Licensure and Legal Requirements

In California, neuromodulator, dermal filler, and IV treatments are the practice of medicine. Candidates must hold one of the licenses below and work under our Medical Director's supervision and written protocols. LVNs, medical assistants, and estheticians are not eligible for this role.

Requirements that apply to every candidate

  • Active, unencumbered California license, verifiable on the DCA license lookup.
  • Work under a physician-owned medical practice with a Medical Director.
  • No treatment without a documented good faith exam by a physician, NP, or PA and a patient-specific order (Bus. & Prof. Code § 2242). The exam may be done by telehealth when it meets the standard of care (Bus. & Prof. Code § 2290.5).
  • Follow the practice's written standardized procedures and protocols for injectables, IV therapy, and complication management, including emergency hyaluronidase use.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Maintain license renewal and continuing education (30 contact hours every 2 years for RNs and NPs).
  • Carry or be covered by professional liability (malpractice) insurance, as provided by [Practice name] or held individually.

Hands-on injector training certificates are expected, but California does not issue a separate state "injector license" or require a specific certification course. The license, supervision, and protocols are what make the practice legal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years as an aesthetic injector with an established patient following in the Inland Empire.
  • Advanced training in cannula technique, lip and full-face balancing, and biostimulators.
  • Experience with lasers, microneedling, chemical peels, or weight-management programs.
  • Aesthetic nursing certification or equivalent advanced credential.
  • ACLS certification.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
