Job Description

Otterbein is a vibrant, faith-based, not-for-profit Senior Living Community that offer Independent and Assisted Living, Nursing Care, Memory Care and Rehabilitation in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.

The Nurse Educator/Trainer is responsible for the training and quality of nursing care given to all residents on the campus. This is accomplished by leading the nursing team and collaborating with other departments to ensure appropriate education and training are provided in accordance to policies, procedures, and the regulations that govern our community along with the Mission and Values of Otterbein. This position is a key member of the clinical team.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates Clinical Orientation (AL and SNF)
  • Annual training and skills competencies (AL and SNF) Monthly or Quarterly Model
  • Infection Control Coordinator (AL and SNF)
  • Psychotropic tracking and logging
  • Medication Administrative Audits
  • Key partner of SNF Clinical Team members as needed (such as destruction of Narcs, Monitoring of Skin, Falls, Admission Audits, etc.)
  • Attends and Participates in ACE
  • Attends Monthly CNA and Nursing Meetings- (AL and SNF)
  • Works with DON, ADON, MDS Coordinator, and AL Director to identify areas of education
  • Includes on call-rotation

Qualifications

  • Education Graduate of approved nursing program
  • Licensure/Certification: Valid Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Experience: The successful candidate will have strong clinical skills, effective communication and leadership skills, a commitment to exceptional customer service and previous management experience. The candidate will also need to demonstrate alignment with Otterbein mission and values and have a passion for serving others. 3 years in a nursing leadership/training role preferred.
